WAR gets social @ the Cambridge News B2B event

Social media is a natural fit for B2C organisations, but does it really have merits for B2B organisations? Well yesterday, Alison Meadows and Nick Tapper took time out to attend the Cambridge News B2B event and highlight key reasons why B2B brands should be involved in social media, providing tangible methods that businesses can use to drive social interaction.

The turnout was strong and demonstrated that there is a real hunger for more information on this topic from B2B marketers. And from the number of people taking down notes, it seems that Nick and Alison really struck a chord with the audience.

The core message to come out of the seminar was that social conversations are happening irrespective of a company’s participation, and that the greatest risk organisations face is not getting involved in some way. At the very least, brands should be listening to the social space to understand what conversations are happening, where they are taking place and to what extent their brands and / or products are being referenced. This material can then be used to inform further decisions about social interaction and wider marketing activity.

The presentation also reinforced the fact that social media should infuse all elements of the marketing strategy, and vice-versa. It should not be considered in a silo approach as this will not just negatively impact on the success of the social media activity, but could also damage the brand in general.

We will be sharing this presentation in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled if you would like to see what insights were shared. If you would like to speak with Nick or Alison regarding your social media requirement, please contact us on 01223 884 600 or tweet us @wareanthonyrust.
